Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Life in New York City (lifeinnewyorkcity.com) is operated by Enterprise Digital Management LLC ("we," "us," "our"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use the website, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions: support@lifeinnewyorkcity.com or 321A Bayshore Rd, Deer Park, NY 11729.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Newsletter signup: your email address, your consent to receive the newsletter (the box you tick), and the date you signed up.
- Contact and partner inquiries: what you type into a contact or "Become a partner" form, such as your name, email, business name, and message.
- Event registration: if you register for an event through the site, your name, email, and any details the registration form asks for.
- Submissions: story tips, event submissions, photos, or comments you send us.
Information collected automatically
- Technical and log data: like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages requested, and the date and time of your visit, to deliver and secure the site.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see section 5.
- Analytics: Wix, our hosting provider, collects site statistics about how visitors use the site (for example, pages viewed, the site that referred you, device and browser type, and approximate location derived from IP address) and gives us aggregate reports. If we add Google Analytics, it runs only after you allow analytics cookies (see section 5).
3. How we use information
- To run, maintain, secure, and improve the website.
- To send the newsletter you signed up for. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link.
- To respond to messages and partner inquiries.
- To manage event registrations and send related updates.
- To understand which content readers find useful, using aggregate site statistics.
- To comply with the law, enforce our Terms of Use, and protect our rights and our visitors.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described here:
- Website hosting and site tools: the site is hosted on Wix, which also provides our content management, forms, events, and store tools. Wix processes data on our behalf; see the Wix Privacy Policy.
- Newsletter: Wix (Wix Forms and Wix Contacts) stores subscriber email addresses and the consent you gave, and we send the newsletter with Wix's email marketing tools. We do not share subscriber lists with anyone else.
- Analytics: Wix processes site statistics for us. Google Analytics, if we add it, receives usage data only from visitors who allow analytics cookies.
- Legal and safety: when required by law or to protect rights, property, or safety.
- Business changes: if the website or business is sold, merged, or transferred, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
5. Cookies, advertising, and third-party content
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. Our hosting provider (Wix) may use cookies that are needed for the site to work and stay secure. If we add Google Analytics, its cookies are used only if you allow analytics.
This site contains affiliate links and may display content from partners. Third parties, including affiliate partners and advertisers, may serve content and advertisements, collect information directly from visitors, and place or recognize cookies on visitors' browsers. For example, when you click an affiliate link, the retailer may use cookies to record that you came from our site. Those third parties' own privacy policies govern their use of that information.
Your choices: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings (some site features may not work without them). You can learn about and opt out of interest-based advertising from many participating companies at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org.
Do Not Track: there is no common industry standard for browser "Do Not Track" signals, and the site does not currently respond to them.
Cookie choices and consent
When you first visit, a cookie notice lets you Accept all, Reject all, or Manage your choices. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and the site works either way. You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page.
- Necessary: always on. Used to run and secure the site and to remember your cookie choice.
- Analytics: off unless you opt in. If we turn on Google Analytics, it only runs after you allow analytics.
- Marketing: off unless you opt in. Covers advertising cookies and affiliate or partner tracking cookies. Ordinary links to other sites still work if you say no, but we do not load marketing tags or ask partners to track you through our pages.
Consent record: we keep a record of your choice so we can respect it and show that we did: a random consent ID, your choice and categories, the date and time, and the version of this policy. Today that record is stored only in your browser's local storage. If we later keep a copy on our servers, it will contain the same fields and will not include your IP address. Clearing your browser storage removes the local record and the notice will appear again.
We use Google Consent Mode, which tells Google services such as Google Analytics or Google AdSense (if we add them) that analytics and advertising storage are denied until you choose otherwise.
Maps on our pages: the Google Maps and Waze maps on our Plan a Visit page only load when you tap to load them. Once loaded, Google or Waze may set or read cookies under their own privacy policies.
6. Community and social media
Our community discussions take place on external platforms, such as a Facebook Group or a separate forum service. Anything you post there is governed by that platform's own terms and privacy policy (for Facebook, the Meta Privacy Policy) and may be visible to other members or the public, depending on the group's settings. Group administrators can see information the platform makes available to them, such as your profile name and posts.
7. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above: newsletter data until you unsubscribe (plus a suppression record so we don't email you again), and messages for as long as needed to respond and follow up.
8. Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including our service providers' security measures, to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us at support@lifeinnewyorkcity.com and we will delete it.
10. Your rights and choices
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email.
- Ask us to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you by emailing support@lifeinnewyorkcity.com.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your state's privacy law. We will honor requests as required by applicable law.
11. Visitors outside the United States
The site is operated from New York, United States. If you visit from elsewhere, your information will be processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site adds features (for example, analytics, the shop, or a new community platform). We will post the updated version here with a new effective date.
